SKULL

Excitement grows in the New Age community as the world is due to end with the completion of the current Maya Calendar b'ak'tun-cycle on December 21, 2012.  That's only eight months away. Time to stock up on dry goods, bottled water, magazines and a working can opener.	An integral part of this doomsday prophecy is that legend that the reuniting of thirteen mystical crystal skulls will herald destructive events such as the arrival of the next solar maximum, or Earth's collision with an object such as a black hole, a passing asteroid, or a planet called Nibiru.
Quartz skulls are often claimed to exhibit paranormal phenomena by some members of the New age movement, and have often been portrayed as such in fiction.	Some believers in the paranormal claim that crystal skulls can produce a variety of miracles. Mystic  Anna Mitchell-Hedges claimed that the skull she allegedly discovered could cause visions, cure cancer, that she once used its magical properties to kill a man, and that in another instance, she saw in it a premonition of the John F. Kennedy assassination.
