DAWN

P.M. Dawn were a seminal 90s Rap act, formed by brothers Attrell Cordes (a.k.a. Prince Be, sometimes credited as Prince Be the Nocturnal) and Jarrett Cordes (a.k.a DJ Minutemix or J.C. the Eternal).

They are probably best known for their hit 'Set Adrift on Memory Bliss' which sampled Spandau Ballet's 'True' and featured Tony Hadley in the film clip.

Throughout their career they were derided by the wider Rap community for not being gangsta enough - this disrespect culminating in KRS-One and his crew to storming the stage during a P.M. Dawn concert, forcing the group off the stage and performing three BDP classics.

Prince B had previously asked of KRS-One, "KRS-One wants to be a teacher, but a teacher of what?"

Defending his motives to USA Today's James T. Jones IV, KRS-One remarked, "I answered his question. 'A teacher of what?' I am a teacher of respect."

Prince Be suffered a massive stroke in early 2005 that left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. Unscathed, P.M. Dawn appeared on NBC's Hit Me, Baby, One More Time, performing "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss", and covered Puddle of Mudd's "Blurry". Despite the fact that Prince Be was still suffering the effects of this stroke, they beat out Animotion, Missing Persons, Juice Newton and Shannon to claim the $20,000 charitable prize which they contributed to the juvenile diabetes foundation as Prince Be himself is diabetic.

PM Dawn's third album 'Jesus Wept' is one of my favourite albums ever - I am currently trying to track down a copy. It's an epic concept album that is strange, mystical and has the most gorgeous melodies. It's not even available on ITUNES. WTF?

Their fourth album has the best album title ever 'Dear Christian, I Am So Very Sorry I Brought You Here, Love Dad'

Damn, yeah I figured Amazon would have been a first port of call. I'm think if those giants don't have it you'll have to seek out a record store in Tokyo!
