MOON

I have been looking at moon images for my next run of steel jewellery....

Found this print at camberwell markets























I like this cabinet by Sotirios Papadopoulos
"During the day it looks like a standard close-up image of the moon printed on the side, but at night it glows brilliantly, just like the real thing, acting as a soft light source as well as a standard-issue sideboard. It does this not by being plugged in, but instead by using a fancy luminous and ecological paint that emits a glow. Unfortunately, this is an extremely limited edition piece with only 24 pieces in existence, so chances are that you won't be able to bring this moon into your home."

Two questions:
1. Why is there a Sass & Bidet quote printed on the front of General Pants?
2. Why would you take philospical cues from two women who made their fortune out of making drag queen surf culture clothing? and why are they using that stately tone of speech making? I'm picturing Martin Luther King wearing gold harem pants and a dream catcher head band making this speech.....

PORCELAIN

These lovely little brooches and pendants are made from Southern Ice Porcelain. The whole process is incredibly labour intensive but the end result well worth it.

I have redrawn and recut Jeremy the Sperm whale to make him smaller and now he hangs horizontally. Much, much cuter.

Basically, I am refining my entire steel range to make everything smaller, stronger and cuter. What more could you want from jewellery?

ps I took this shot on my new Sony Ericcson c902, what's up with the brown banding? very handsome phone, camera quality - we'll see....

BIRD

I have been working on this for ages and continue to work on it. It is the Bird in The Berry tree made 1/4 of the size of the original. At these dimensions girls who loved it but couldn't pull off the scale of it will definitely have another look.

I have cut it from brass which I am silver plating, adding supreme luxness to the piece. Silver has much lovelier lustre than steel.

To get the piece to the new size I had to reduce the detail, which took ages. It's crazy cute at the smaller size.

Someone bought the sample straight off the bat, which was exciting. Sam Thorpe of Canberra I salute you and your good taste!
