XMAS
Dear Corky
I am a great admirer of your label, I think I have sixteen or seventeen pieces now. I experience tender emotions when my boyfriend Oscar buys me new CORKY jewellery.
I am looking for something special to get my best friend Chloe for Xmas 09.
I know that you must be busy running both the shop and your award winning label and your time is extremely important, so any assistance you could spare would be greatly appreciated
Yours sincerely
Lucie

LIT
The shop is looking real pretty again, lots of cabinets lit from within. Hmmmmm... took a very long time but it's rich, warm and deep in there again.
I have this theory that when things get to their prettiest that's when they are ending.
Not sure what I want to do with the rest of my life, but it involves poetry and typography

DMT
My favourite music at the moment is Run DMT. Run DMT's album 'Bong Voyage' is genius - languid, stonerly and relaxed with clever samples that sound like a woozy summer's day.
I love it when the track "Money" floats into the playlist at Corky shop - sounds like the perfect soundtrack for whatever the **** we are doing down there.

or you could, like, buy the album!

LOVE
ephemeral skatey sculptural happening by Oliver of the Sky
Oliver writes "I made a janky cardboard replica of the iconic Love sculpture and had a skatejam with my friends here in Melbourne. My connection with the Love sculpture, specifically the version situated in JFK plaza in Philadelphia, came from my teenage years as a skateboarder-geek in New Zealand. Making my own version allowed me to connect with the image in a tactile way for the first time. Documentation of this project will be featured in a new Magazine called Here + Now, to be published early 2010.. Special thanks to Holly Fluxx and my skate posse!"

LOST
Recently in the shop someone advised me to never date anyone who is a psychologist or too into David Lynch. Hmmmm.
I really like this song by David Bowie, I hope you like it too

Yes you get 3 different, super cute ghosts in the set. People always ask what the third ghost is for

SCIENCE
Got this range of stylish vases that look like scientific beakers and test tubes. There are three styles all priced at $25Au. Limited stock - I think these are gonna go quickly.
PS:The vases are transparent; we put the coloured liquid in there for visual merchandising purposes but it seems to be confusing people

BEAR
This is a photo of Boris, Nautical Bear - a Corky Character that never really made it into the product range - it just wasn't cute enough. I like his teeth, but his face is a bit kooky and the claws are creepy. Having said that it did get featured on a Russian Trendspotting site and also a Very Major Scenester bought it when he was just young.

WOMEN
"Many types of women have inspired Ted Noten in making his new series of work. Assemblages, rings, necklaces, bracelets and brooches in many different colors, materials and sizes are the result of a one year survey through the world of women. Featuring: the Fashionista, the Icecream Girl and the Femme Fatale. These assemblages are translated into jewels by 3d printing technique.
During Design Miami, Atelier Ted Noten presented his first 3d printed jewellery in 24 krt. gold in a live show where the buyer can decide himself at what point in the design process he wanted to print his design so the buyer himself becomes part of the design process.
The Japanese artist Hokusai immortalized the most enchanting landscape he knew in a group of woodprints: ‘36 views of Mount Fuji’. These images inspired Ted Noten to develop 36 jewels for just as many types of women. Noten also made images: each woman was portrayed in a three dimensional collage. The shoes, car tyres and other ‘objects trouvés’ he used, seem a far cry from regular jewellery."

DAUL
Like everyone else I have been reading i like to fork myself by model and painter Daul Kim. Of course everything she wrote becomes so much more interesting (yes in a morbid way) because it is recontextualised by her suicide. It's kinda weird the last thing she posted was an embedded youtube clip of Jim River's 'i go deep' (original house mix).
I am kinda addicted to the story she posted about bokko dancing in Korea. Apparently it is advisable to wear Armani or A/X while performing these 'architectural' movements.
Like so much of her blog this clip is fascinating because it so uniquely Korean. Daul was so fiercely proud/ashamed/aware of being Korean. The stories of her being cyber-bullied by Korean haters and Korean bloggers who felt she was a bad representative of their culture strike hard. I, too, experienced some inane cyber-bullying earlier this year by a chinless, *********, ********* *********** designer who will remain nameless, so Daul's stories about this topic resonated with me.

SKULL
From burnished and buffed |
This tee took a million years to work out but we did it in the end and I'm glad we were so meticulous 'cos it is probably my favourite tee of all time.
Trust me: the trippy triangles and the patterns they form are entirely mesmerising in a drinking situation.
For those of you who like to touch, another nice detail is that some of the triangles are bleached into the teeshirt while others are printed in plastisol, the variation providing a texturally interesting experience.

MOSES
Hey everybody here is a new Corky character: Moses the Hippo. He's in love with everyone, and I hope everyone loves him too.
He's seriously one of the cutest Corky characters ever - I love his little belly. I think I might make him into a tiny silver pendant.

EGG
Dear Customers + Readers
This wood range turned out much better than the last range. Wooden jewellery is more brittle than perspex, you just can't have any weak points at all. When I see the plethora of wood jewellery out there - lacey birds and cameos they look pretty much like they would break after two wears.
Check out this super cute new Dinosaur Egg brooch made from wood. ($29Au RRP available from Corky Saint Clair. Coming soon in Perspex in bright colours.)
All of my new range is blocky and strong and cut from wood at least 5mm thick so I guarantee you you will have a good run with this range.
xx
