HEART
Joss wanted a meaningful reminder of her brother. We set a rough aquamarine (his birthstone) inside one our anatomical heart lockets and plated the entire piece in 18ct yellow gold - creating a beautiful metaphor about keeping the memory of those you loved both safe and close to you.

ROSE
When I found this lovely rose cut diamond I couldn't stop staring it; I love the way it catches the light and lets it spill across the surface of the stone. The soft cuts aren't as sparkly as a brilliant cut diamond but I like that more. We carved this botanical inspired ring for my neice Lydia's 21st birthday present. The rose gold brings out the warmth from this gorgeous champagne diamond.

THERAPY
Is the most powerful form of alternative medicine in fact retail therapy? If so why not treat yourself with our new "Golden Purity Hoops".
Gold has been called “the master healer”. It is an excellent mineral for the purification of the physical body. Gold produces an energy that is both cooperative and receptive, allowing one to heal in ways previously unattained.
These "Golden Purity Hoops" are one inch in diameter. Each one is completely hand made in Melbourne out of solid 9ct gold.

Torrington Emeralds are beautiful natural Emeralds found in NSW.
During the early 1990s a small but very interesting deposit of emeralds was discovered under an unsealed road near Torrington in Northern NSW. Quite a bit of material came onto the market at the time but as there has been no production recorded for some time, rough and cut pieces are now collector items. The single well formed crystals show a unique colour banding sometimes referred to as ‘Bar Code Banding’ making them extremely attractive specimens.
We have built individual sterling settings for each emerald. They are in fact tiny sculptures.

ROTH
Philip Roth, the towering novelist who explored lust, Jewish life and America, has passed away at 85.
My favourite character of his was Delphine Roux from the Human Stain.
His description of her ring is incredible: "Her one piece of jewelry, the large ring she'd placed that morning on the middle finger of her left hand, her sole decorative ornament, had been selected for the sidelight it provided on the intellectual she was, one for whom enjoying the aesthetic surface of life openly, nondefensively, with her appetite and connoisseurship undisguised, was nonetheless subsumed by a lifelong devotion to scholarly endeavor. The ring, an eighteenth-century copy of a Roman signet ring, was a man-sized ring formerly worn by a man. On the oval agate, set horizontally—which was what made the ring so masculinely chunky—was a carving of Danaë receiving Zeus as a shower of gold. In Paris, four years earlier, when Delphine was twenty, she had been given the ring as a love token from the professor to whom it belonged—the one professor whom she'd been unable to resist and with whom she'd had an impassioned affair."

URBAN
Corky Saint Clair has had some great media coverage over the years, including mentions in Wallpaper Magazine, National Geographic, Broadsheet, Timeout Magazine and the Wall Street Journal (!). I guess our tiny, quirky business fits into the 'Secrets of Melbourne' vibe of all of those stories.
We got a nice write up in urbanlist today. I'm glad the writer understood our endless dedication to prettiness, which is what I'm actually interested in.

SALE
Hi Everybody
We are having our first ever Tee Shirt Sale. All tees that were $45 now $30.
Our tees are loved for their softness and durability. I wear them everyday, year in year out and they seem to last forever.
We print using bleach so there is no ink on their surface and the patterning becomes part of the fabric. Nice touch.

SIGNET
We are currently carving our first signet ring with an anatomical heart in 3D relief.
It's for a couple's wedding bands.
Have you got an idea for a signet ring that you want realised? Maybe initials or a motif that you love?

OPAL
One thing I love about Australia is that we have the prettiest gemstone in the world. Our opals are second to none with their incredible colours which can appear in bold patterns, stripes, crazy patchworks or other-worldly clouds of light.
The top photo of our new opal pendant. This solid opal is from Coober Pedy. It has bright play of colour with a big green flash in its centre and beautiful clouds of electric looking cerulean blue. We have set this stone in a custom made six claw setting that has been slightly oxidised to bring out the colours.buy online
Pretty little lozenge shaped opal from Coober Pedy. This opal measures 19mm long x 15mm wide. It has distinct pools of vivid yellow and blue. It has a concave indentation running down one side which adds to its unique appearance. We have set it with a striking oxidised claw setting that makes its bright colours really pop. The chain and bezel are sterling silver. This piece has been cut, polished and set in Melbourne.

Hey Everybody
We are back at the shop. Things are afoot at Corky Saint Clair. As you know the Metro Tunnel Redevelopment will subsume Campbell Arcade. I have been looking around for a new shop as my lease ends in February.
I'm looking at spaces not on ground level so Corky will end up upstairs in one of the buildings around Flinders Lane. If you have any leads please lead us know .;o)
Keep your eyes peeled for our big move!
