SMOKEY

Did you know that in 12th century China flat planes of Smokey  Quartz were used as the lenses for intricately constructed sunglasses?
These types of sunglasses could not correct vision, or protect from harmful UV rays, but did reduce glare.  Chinese judges used the smoky quartz glasses to hide their facial expressions when they interrogated witnesses.
Smokey quartz is a brown to black variety of quartz Like other quartz gems, it is a silicon dioxide crystal. The smoky color results from free silicon, formed from the silicon dioxide by natural irradiation.
At Corky Saint Clair we have a new range of rough, faceted smokey quartz and sterling silver rings.   They vary in price but are around $80AUD.

Hey Everybody
We will be down at the Big Design Market this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Royal Exhibition Building. Friday night goes till late and there will be drinks and hi jinks as well great design from over 160 Designers from Australia.

	Dear Diary It seems my crystal habit is spinning totally out of control. I love crystals so much, nothing seems to matter when I'm staring at them. Today I bought this stunning "Crystal Teeth" necklace from beloved indie jewellery shop Corky Saint Clair for just $60AUD.  It consists of four quartz points on an 80cm Italian sterling silver chain. I have spent hours playing with the necklace as the quartz teeth spin around the rod that holds them. I always wanted more from my life but maybe crystals are enough. Having a rich, thick, deep mustache is one of the true pleasures of adult manhood. With the rise of hipsterism an entire fetishization of facial hair has begun afresh.  Sites such as The Daily Beard and most gay Tumblr sites are virtual shrines to facial hair. Some of the guys on The Daily Beard aren't that hot - it's more just about their masculinity - which is what the bushy mustache signifies - obvious manliness.
The truth is that guys do look more handsome with facial hair. It isn't a gay thing - it's the simple visual fact that areas of darkness will provide your face with topographical definition - it's like the way trannies and trashy women contour their faces with foundation and blush to create the illusion of having cheekbones and more slender necklines.
I grew my mustache to show my friend Michael Pham that I could grow a better mustache than him during Movember.  Movember is a very magical time of the year when all the young men in Melbourne look about 50% hotter. It's like lust land everywhere you look. I was utterly shocked that I was able to grow a mustache. I quickly forgot about besting Michael and learnt to love my mustache.

TRIANGLE

Dear Corky I wear a lot of necklaces, and one of my favorites features a large triangle. I love the ability to switch its meaning in a certain wearing of it. When I wear the necklace the right side up, the triangle stand erect, and I feel that I'm affirming my masculine energies.  When inverted, with the tip pointed down, I'm hailing my feminine wiles. Few objects can match the duplicity of my moods, so I appreciate this versatility.
