All guys in Tokyo wear shiny, puffer jackets. It's kinda gross but I get it - they are light and warm and your body temperature doesn't change too much as you move through different heating settings. Having said that they are hideous to look at.
I found this nice version by Fred Perry in Harajuku at this lovely shop called Auvieux Continent.
I couldn't understand a word the salesman said but I could tell he was an old soul. It looked amazing on me but seemed kinda expensive but then the nice salesman gave me a discount, but still I dithered. And then he took the jacket off of me and showed me it was REVERSIBLE and looked even cuter the other way.

MONKEY
Yesterday I was innocently walking along this baseball park and I saw this guy in the bushes. I thought he might be taking a leak but he was looking for his lost monkey.
How cute is his little monkey it had the softest furry hands that seemed to be green.

RICE
Walked for hours until I stumbled into some kind of festival for rice cakes. Local business men took turns bashing the shit out of rice in huge wooden buckets. There was free noodles, beer and rice cakes. It was so nice sitting there in the winter sun.
For some reason people wanted to have their photo taken with me. Um.... don't I just look like a chubby, middle class Australian-Asian? I kinda thought that people thought I was Japanese but now I realise I'm getting alot of attention here.

CLOUD
Harajuku made my brain bleed, so much to see and love and want and buy. I loved this label CLOUD CREATOR
I also liked the shop AMP which was handcrafted silver and resin work. The owner sat in a little wooden cubby house that separated him from the rest of the shop.
The whole vibe was like whatever - they were playing really loud RNB and the two staff people seemed to fighting and not saying 'sumimasen' to me over and over. There whole schtick was reworked catholic iconography - that seems to make Japanese people hot - guess it's exotic over here. There was a gorgeous necklace that was tiny silver tablet that had the tiniest inscription 'I want mercy but do not want to make sacrifices'. So hot for so many reasons.
Also they made hand beaded bracelets out of luxey looking tiny seed beads. The main bracelet they seem to be pushing was black, shiny and had the word 'FUCK' in giant ruby red seed beads + red swastikas. Of course.
There was also an amazing inlaid resin and silver skull ring. It didn't fit and the sales girl didn't give a shit.

PRADA
Yeh Prada yadda yadda - it's expensive leisure wear. Who even wears that shit? Eurotypes and people from Sydney. Having said that the Prada Concept shop in Aoyama was a thing of singular beauty.
I was given green tea by this cute Japanese guy as I entered. Oh and the elevator is decked out to look like an old fashioned library.
There were some whingey Asian-American tourists shopping in the basement with me. The lady american bitched at her partner to look for items with the Red Stripe i.e. shit that indicate PRADA
The view from the top floor was startling beautiful, definitely my ultimate lighting moment ever - somehow the rounded prismatic windows made the light softer yet more crystalline and rare. It's hard to explain but I imagine it's what it would be like to look out from inside a diamond?
I nearly bought these Prada men's shoes that are styled to look like a rich version of hobo shoes - they were so funny but kinda -xy (maybe 69000 yen?).

MOSS
Found this cute little ceramic rabbit with live moss growing on it in a tiny accessories store. It was so cool that amongst all the jewellery and crockery were little bonsais and planters with tiny plants.
I went to a super high end department store in Ginza yesterday that had plants growing up and down every escalator and from hanging pots. It was like the retail version of the Garden of Bablyon.

GLASS
Yes that is a white fur trimmed glass slipper from 4 degrees Canal. I haven't seen anyone wear one yet but it wouldn't surprise me.
The women in Ginza dress like Ice Princesses.
It's all ensembles of oatmeal, off white, white fur stoles, wraps and fluffy trims and cashmere. Everything is soft, pale and feathery and splay with the slightest movement of air. They look amazing.

CANAL
The jewellery I have seen here in Japan is tiny and delicate. Even the chains seem crazily dainty. People in Australia always ask how strong chains are, as if that is the quality that determines value. It's kinda hard to explain to people that trace chains are prettier but no they are definitely not strong.
The best label I have seen so far is called 4 degrees Canal. It's whimsical, nicely finished costume jewellery. They have their own inhouse label and then import other labels that match their aesthetic. My favourite thing was a black 3D chandelier necklace that had tiny austrian cut crystals as the light bulbs. I also liked their tiny pinnochio sterling silver studs that used his elongated nose as the stud of the earring!

SALEM
This was our soundtrack for the xmas rush over the last fortnight.
"All the songs on this ep sound like disjointed submerged versions of Paper Planes, in which M.I.A.'s vocals are lost to the heavy hum of bass smoke and reduced to that of a school girl doing karaoke versions of 4AD classics."
Hmmmm don't get the M.I.A. reference but if you like fuzzy, lazy, stonerly music this is a sweet spot.

UGH
I don't feel very well - a gang of teenage shoplifters just moved through the shop like a swarm of track suit clad locusts and stole about twenty things. It's not even the cost of the items - it's just a really gross feeling - a combination of shock and being violated.
I am so easy going about people but now I'm watching everyone who comes in here. GRRRRRR.
there were about a hundred people in the shop and I was serving five people at once so I couldn't see everything. I knew they were dodgy.
and they messed up my delicate displays as they grabbed shit
*sigh*

AIR
Is what I need? Dyson Air Multiplier
Dyson make such beautiful products. The industrial design is kinda agressive and futuristic but I don't think it is over designed.
I think my second favourite thing I bought this year was this. Everyone likes using the Dyson DC-31.
It makes me feel like Sigourney Weaver In Aliens.... it is so powerful it makes my life easier and more pleasant.

COLOUR
These rainbow shorts by Ruffeo Heart Lil Snotty are in my top 5 things I have bought this year.
Kinda hard to describe the experience of wearing them, but you probably want to feel that feeling at some point?

BIRD
This new sterling silver 3D bird is new at the shop. It is a tiny version of the flying bird that has moved its way through our product range over the years. I have made it more 3D tapering out to the edges which gives it a nice shine.
So many flying bird silhouettes out there but this one is perfectly proportioned.
At this size it looks kinda classy like something a catholic school girl with good taste might wear.
Available from Corky Saint Clair $65Au RRP comes in gift box

JELLY
JELLYBEAN NECKLACES
Attended Explorations 09 at Guilford Lane Gallery. There's some crazy shit there but my favourite piece was 'Sugar Hit' by Margaret Papadopoulos, which was a long string of hand formed resin jelly beans. I couldn't find an image on the net but they kinda looked like the image on the left.

DREAM
ROCKIN THAT SHIT RIGHT
VIDEO
VIDEO REMIX
This song is so sweet, especially the mid section bridge where The Dream sings both the male and female parts of a lurid, car make out session
We out the door, we in the car.
She under my shirt, I'm under her bra.
She said take it if you want it.
Then we made love 'til the first light of morning.
The Dream is best known for producing Rhihanna's monster hit Umbrella. As if to remind you of this inescapable fact The Dream Album Love Vs Money is littered with the self propagating catchphrase "radio killa illa illa".
Love Vs Money is probably the catchiest thing this side of the Ebola virus - my pick for album of the year 2009.

LARVAE
Hubert Duprat’s aquatic caddis-fly larvae. Duprat leaves precious materials in aquatic tanks such as gold, turquoise, tiny pearls and lets the larvae spin exoskeletal cases for themselves to live in. They look astoundingly beautiful. The larvae didn’t build random cases – they built carefully constructed stripes of different materials – so on any given case there might be one stripe of pearls followed by bands of gold or pearls.
The larvae are shown in a tiny strip like aquarium. The day I attended his exhibition there was an older larvae struggling to drag its gilded case behind it. Its torso seemed to be straining with effort. I guess it was a metaphor for the labour involved in accruing material and the literal physical drag of materialism.

PRISM
Love this chunky geometric solid silver ring - it looks like Superman's wedding ring - butch, heavy and crystalline. It is almost too heavy and like all good fashion items makes you more aware of your body when wearing it.
I made one for you but decided to keep it for myself.

THIEF

Evil woman lauren ridley AKA cherryloco on folksy has done her own indentical version of Rolly the Radcore Robot. WTF. She claims since it was on google images it was public domain. I seem to recall drawing this robot and reworking it over and over and over and over.
I am still working on him. If you have read my blog you'll know how many iterations of Rolly I have gone through to get to this point.
post script
After much arguing, the site hosting her work removed 'the love bot' AKA Rolly the radcore robot and 'angry monster' AKA Carrymonster. The whole experience made me realise how I feel very protective/proud of my work.
I really hope that woman Lauren Ridley of Glasgow, Scotland stops selling these two items from her inventory. Furthermore it'd be polite if she acknowledged what she did and apologised. It was quite stressful having to deal with this.

ANGRY
Description
CHERRYLOCO
Check out this total **** who stole the design of the carrymonster to sell on 'folksy'. She didn't change a single element of the design from his little toes to the placement of the jump rings, his teeth, horns and rounded fingers.
Even the copy from her sales spiel is the same as the copy from my website.
I'd kinda get it if she was dodgy manufacturer from China but she's passing it off as original work on a craft site. Apparently alot of her work on Folksy.com is just straight rip offs from people on Etsy.com.
Rah! He’s an angry monster, grrrr! This quirky design is hand pierced from sterling silver on a 16inch chain which also extends up to 18 inches. A little love heart hangs on the end.
Materials: polished sterling silver
