BERLIN
In the world of independent fashion retail North Melbourne icon Kids in Berlin is definitely one of the good guys. Despite their unlikely location (The Errol Street end of Victoria Street, North Melbourne) Kids in Berlin has survived and thrived and grown into something of an institution in the local handmade and craft scene. To date KIB stock and support over 200 Australian made labels.
There is a massive selection Australian made jewellery and accessories, including stars of the indie craft scene - Love/Hate, Limedrop, Victoria Mason, Madz Has Runaway, Wah Wah Wears, Skulk of Foxes and yours truly Corky.
Hand made owl purse by Scotatto.
Man, I love this wood and acrylic brooch by Candy Stripe. This label are experts at laser cutting. The amount of work that goes into each piece is mind boggling. How cute are the little love heart sesame seeds?
Weird, gothy resin work by Allan. |
There is also a great selection of locally made clothing. That's new owner Zan in the background at the end of a long day. It was night already and she was kind enough to let me stage this photo shoot for Corky Blog. Thank you Zan.... ;o)

MONSTER
I am working on a new tiny sterling silver version of the Carry Monster.
This one has rings through his hands. It's looking pretty good so far, but I think I need to take him to high finish. Matte silver sometimes grosses me out.

BROOKLYN
I love Brooklyn. Who doesn't? It is indie heaven.
I'm doing the Brooklyn leg of the Renegade Craft Fair on the 11th and 12th of June. It is going to be so much fun.
As well as my usual Corky treasures, my friend Katie and I are going to make and sell genuine Aussie pastries such as Lamingtons and Mini Pavs. We are going to blow Brooklyn folks' minds.
The Renegade Craft Fair is headed back to McCarren Park for our 7th Annual Brooklyn Fair on June 11 +12, 2011, from 11am – 7pm each day! Along with hundreds of today’s best makers of handmade goods, we’ll be hosting hands-on crafting workshops and planning a handful of summertime surprises!
New York’s most exciting outdoor showcase of indie-craft is always free-to-attend! Food and beverages will also be available!
At the Renegade Craft Fair you can expect to find only the best indie-craft and DIY artisans!
Featuring both local and national talent shoppers can anticipate a vast arrayof independently designed jewelry, clothing, paper goods, home + garden goods, posters, artwork, plush objects, bath + body products, and so much more!!
