SKULL

Excitement grows in the New Age community as the world is due to end with the completion of the current Maya Calendar b'ak'tun-cycle on December 21, 2012.  That's only eight months away. Time to stock up on dry goods, bottled water, magazines and a working can opener.	An integral part of this doomsday prophecy is that legend that the reuniting of thirteen mystical crystal skulls will herald destructive events such as the arrival of the next solar maximum, or Earth's collision with an object such as a black hole, a passing asteroid, or a planet called Nibiru.
Quartz skulls are often claimed to exhibit paranormal phenomena by some members of the New age movement, and have often been portrayed as such in fiction.	Some believers in the paranormal claim that crystal skulls can produce a variety of miracles. Mystic  Anna Mitchell-Hedges claimed that the skull she allegedly discovered could cause visions, cure cancer, that she once used its magical properties to kill a man, and that in another instance, she saw in it a premonition of the John F. Kennedy assassination.
I recently sourced thirteen crystals skulls. We have presented them on an 80cm sterling silver box link chain.

GOLD

Like a lot of craft and fashion in NYC, Gold's Fool make work that riffs on civil war - Cold Mountain - hill billy imagery, but this was a really good version of it.	It is so funny and well made. How sweet are these mini moonshine bottles. They are filled with poppyseeds which I intend to replace with chia seeds when I put them in the shop.

NIGHT OWL

TREASURE

The New Corky Solid Silver Treasure Chest Locket has finally arrived. It is so beautiful. What treasures could you place in your chest for your beloved?  Tiny gems, tiny photos, tiny seashells, love letters, pills, thrills + love.
I've put some tumbled faceted citrines in mine. The stones don't come with the necklace...I placed them there to show you how functional as a container the new piece is.     We have put the Treasure Chest on our new 80cm box link chain. It is stronger and thicker than some of the finer chains we have used in the past.
The wood grain came up well.

MUSTACHE

Having a rich, thick, deep mustache is one of the true pleasures of adult manhood. With the rise of hipsterism an entire fetishization of facial hair has begun afresh.  Sites such as The Daily Beard and most gay Tumblr sites are virtual shrines to facial hair. Some of the guys on The Daily Beard aren't that hot - it's more just about their masculinity - which is what the bushy mustache signifies - obvious manliness.
The truth is that guys do look more handsome with facial hair. It isn't a gay thing - it's the simple visual fact that areas of darkness will provide your face with topographical definition - it's like the way trannies and trashy women contour their faces with foundation and blush to create the illusion of having cheekbones and more slender necklines.
I grew my mustache to show my friend Michael Pham that I could grow a better mustache than him during Movember.  Movember is a very magical time of the year when all the young men in Melbourne look about 50% hotter. It's like lust land everywhere you look. I was utterly shocked that I was able to grow a mustache. I quickly forgot about besting Michael and learnt to love my mustache.

UNICORN

The unicorn is a legendary animal from European folklore that resembles a white horse with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead.  Unicorns are an important imaginary animal,  commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature. They are a symbol of purity and grace; legend states they could only be captured by a virgin.
In the ancient texts a unicorn horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.  Under our current Trade Practices Act it is illegal to make such claims but several customers have hinted at similar experiences while wearing our new Sterling silver unicorn studs.  Available from Corky Saint Clair $40AUD or from corkysainclair.bigcartel.com

TRIANGLE

Dear Corky I wear a lot of necklaces, and one of my favorites features a large triangle. I love the ability to switch its meaning in a certain wearing of it. When I wear the necklace the right side up, the triangle stand erect, and I feel that I'm affirming my masculine energies.  When inverted, with the tip pointed down, I'm hailing my feminine wiles. Few objects can match the duplicity of my moods, so I appreciate this versatility. I know you are busy running the shop and your award winning jewllery label but have you got any advice for triangle jewellery wearing? Any help would be much appreciated Love Bailey-Rose

BIRDCAGE

In the days of yore, before the advent of blue ray laser disc players, ipad 2s and 3D image projection systems, families would often spend entire evenings sitting around watching simple shadow animations such as this bird cage animated candle holder. This lasercut stainless steel bird cage spinning candle holder is available from Corky Saint Clair.
The heat from the votive candle causes the convected air to rotate the birdcages. The simple silhouettes throw mesmerising shadows on walls and ceilings harking back to entertainment of simpler less complicated times.

HORSEY

"If Katharine Hepburn were an animal, she’d be a horse. But not just any horse, the most goddamn majestic horse you’d ever have seen in your life.  If you’d try to tame her, she’d buck back and not take any of that. Anyone who knows me, knows I love synthetic jackets. I got this tiny see through North Face jacket on my recent trip to Tokyo
It folds down to the size of a golf ball, making it hyper- useful.
One of the things I love about synthetic clothing is their translucent qualities. How sweet is it that you can see my new polka dot shirt underneath?

BIOSPHERE 2

Biosphere 2 is an Earth systems science research facility owned by the University of Arizona. Its current mission is to serve as a center for research, outreach, teaching and life-long learning about Earth, its living systems, and its place in the universe. also explored the possible use of closed biospheres in space colononization and allowed the study and manipulation of a biosphere without harming  Earth's.
At Corky Saint Clair we have created our own tribute to the Biosphere Project. These solid sterling silver  pinchbacks can hold any kind of tiny foliage or vegetal matter - effectively creating your own mini biosphere to spread positive and healthy bio energy to your body all day long.
I placed a small piece of seaweed in my Corky Saint Clair Biosphere.  You could place tiny sedums or blossoms in yours.

OWL

Serendipity  is the the accident of finding something good or useful without looking for it.  Finding these gorgeous handmade owl purse on the summit of Mount Nokogiri is a perfect example of a 'serendipitious' event. I'm never going to find them again but I'm so glad I got the few that I did.
