Sweet documentary by Nanette Burstein (On the Ropes, The Kid Stays in the Picture). Follows the lives of four american teens in Indiana - The Queen Bee, The Jock, The Nerd and The Art Kid.
At first you are constantly aware that this is a documentary. The kids also seem aware of this and so the camera becomes almost another character in the film - a presence that both records and interacts with its subjects.
Halfway through a new 'character' Mitch is introduced and as he has natural starpower and charisma the film suddenly becomes more compelling.
The soundtrack is also sweet with tracks by The Unicorns, Nyles Lannon, MGMT and The New Pornographers.
